Milton Erickson Ericksonian Hypnosis
I once had a client who came into my hypnosis office, and after the introductions, the first thing he asked me was: “Do you do Milton Erickson Ericksonian Hypnosis?” I asked him how he knew about Milton Erickson and Ericksonian Hypnosis. He replied, “I am a doctor, and I went to a seminar once on hypnotherapy, and I hear it’s the best!”
A lot of people have heard about the legendary Milton Erickson, a psychiatrist who pioneered the use of medical hypnotherapy in the later part of the 20th century. Milton Erickson was a genius, and his methods of hypnosis have been studied, written about and emulated by professionals around the world.
Milton Erickson
Milton Erickson learned hypnosis through personal experience. You see, hypnosis (trance states) are actually natural phenomena, they occur to all of us every day. When Milton Erickson was a teenager, he developed polio and was not expected to make it thought the night. But he did, and he did so by focusing his attention on the sunset through a window, channeling his anger and emotions to help him make it. As he recovered, he learned to use hypnosis as a way of overcoming some of the physical limitations polio had left him with. This spurred his interest in the mind, and he went on to graduate as a medical Doctor, specializing in psychiatry.
Throughout his career, he focused on clinical hypnosis and hypnotherapy that could heal and help his patients with both mental and physical problems. I have created a short course in experiential Ericksonian hypnosis that not only teaches you how to use some of Erickson’s techniques to help others, but also guides you through healing hypnosis sessions that can help you in your own life. It is perfect for those who want to experience hypnosis and for those who work with others as a hypnotist. Take our Ericksonian Summer School course!
