Unlike most programs which focus only on quitting, the QuitSuccess® Program focuses on staying quit. With QuitSuccess®, relapse prevention begins with the initial assessment, and clients are counseled on developing a new healthy identity and lifestyle, complete with social, diet and exercise changes.
Furthermore, every client uses tobacco for different reasons, and is addicted at different levels. QuitSuccess® is a structured program, yet the components are flexible and customizable to meet the individual needs of each client. The interventions used may be more cognitive, or more behavioral, or more spiritual in nature, depending on the client.
Based on government sanctioned research, input by behavioral health specialists and certified personal fitness trainers, combined with common business sense, we designed not only a tool to help you assist clients in attaining their goal of tobacco use cessation, but also a practical and effective companion program to help you market and profit from your expertise and skills.
Health and Wellness: Creating Innovative Interventions for Tobacco Cessation
The 20-Hour multi-media home study program includes four instructional DVDs, two educational textbooks, and accompanying comprehensive materials - all designed to teach the unique skills of tobacco dependency treatment and relapse prevention.
Education and Skills Development
Different people use tobacco for different reasons, and are addicted at different levels. Learn to assess and evaluate dependency factors and lifestyle patterns, in order to create more effective treatment plans and relapse prevention strategies.
Relapse Prevention Strategies
They say most smokers try to quit at least 8 or 9 times before they finally succeed. If you are prepared to offer relapse prevention counseling, you can increase the efficacy of your services. Increased success means healthier clients, greater levels of referral and increased job satisfaction.
This course will teach the skills necessary to assess relapse potential and help clients finally succeed - even following relapse.
Treating Tobacco Dependency
When you treat tobacco dependency, you are also treating depression, anger, and social behaviors. People who smoke relate to their cigarettes better than to other people; they use their cigarettes to control social situations. Smokers who get angry will automatically reach for the pack, depressed smokers will simply light up rather than take healthy actions.
Treatment of tobacco dependency requires the development of counseling strategies that can equip clients to face life tobacco free - and also develop a new sense of identity. Practical strategies for addressing adolescent tobacco dependency, smokeless tobacco dependency, and the unique needs of special populations are included in this course.
Tobacco Dependency Counseling
Learn the information and skills you need to effectively treat tobacco dependency from a therapeutic perspective, including:
- Nicotine Replacement Therapies
- Lifestyle Change and Wellness Approaches
- Cognitive, Behavioral and Spiritual Approaches
