Studies have found multiple applications of hypnosis to pre-surgical preparation. One study found it reduced postoperative vomiting (Enqvist, et. al., 1997) and that it can reduce distress and pain (Motgomery, et. al., 2002) and that it can control anxiety (Saadat, et. al., 2006).
